Although the majority of my work is carried out on pro Nikon gear (I’ve just retired a well-worked D2X and bought a shiny, new D800) I still love using film, particularly monochrome. I shoot Ilford FP4 on my Linhof panoramic camera as well as on a large format Horseman 5X4. I still hand process the films and print traditionally using noxious chemicals in the darkroom. I know the modern ways are brilliant, but I still prefer the tactile nature of bringing a print to life in the red-lit developing trays. I plan to explore more old printing techniques in the near future with a view to incorporating the finished materials in two exhibitions I have in the pipeline.
